How many people are required to play Halloween Hijinks?

Halloween Hijinks can be played with two to five players. The two player variation removes dad’s bowl as a timer but remains otherwise the same.

My child cannot read, can they play Halloween Hijinks?

Yes! The spider module does not require any reading and provides a good opportunity to practice counting.

Last updated: June 04, 2026 06:08

Would Halloween Hijinks be fun for a group of adults?

Yes! The trunk or treat module introduces new card drafting aspects and more complicated treat cards. Adults will find it challenging and engaging.

What is the earlybird special?

Halloween Hijinks will be discounted from $40 to $30 for the first two days of the campaign.

Mostly. We may make a few adjustments for better visibility and readability on some pieces. Otherwise, the game will look like the images included in the campaign.

Last updated: June 04, 2026 06:12

Is there a solo mode?

No. Halloween Hijinks’ main game mechanics include swapping candy with opponents and secretly assigning candy values at the beginning of the game. Without these elements, the game would lose most of its flavor.

Last updated: June 04, 2026 06:13

Do I have to secretly assign the candy values at the beginning of the game?

While our vision for Halloween Hijinks included teaching children that objects have different value to different people and you don’t always know what your neighbor values, you are welcome to randomly assign your candy values or play with them displayed.

What is a modular game? How is Halloween Hijinks a modular game?

A modular board game is a game that allows you to pick and choose which elements that you want to play with and which ones you want to leave out.

With Halloween Hijinks, players can choose to play various combinations of the four modules and the haunted die. Players always use the spider module. If players to choose to play with more modules, they will play with the ghost module and can choose to play with grandma’s bag and/or trunk or treat.

The haunted die can be used with any module combination.

Last updated: June 04, 2026 07:53

What is the haunted die? What does it do?

The haunted die is an add-on to Halloween Hijinks. It is used to level the playing field between players of differing skill levels. The haunted die replaces one action each turn for any player that is haunted. The haunted player has to work against the haunted die while also competing with other players. The haunted die rolls are: eat a candy, swap a candy with another player, draw a candy card, swap a candy with dad’s bowl or the discard pile, nothing happens, and draw a candy card. Since the player must always complete the action rolled, if able, the die roll may not be favorable for the player.

How does Halloween Hijinks "grow with your children"?

With the various modules of Halloween Hijinks, parents can play it with children of various ages. As the child grows, parents can include new modules for added difficulty and to teach new gaming concepts.

Last updated: June 04, 2026 07:58

How competitive is Halloween Hijinks?

Halloween Hijinks is very low competition. Because the candy values are hidden at the beginning of the game, players cannot tell who is winning throughout the game. This helps children not feel defeated easily. No one knows who is winning the game until the very end of the game when points are scored.

Why should I back Halloween Hijinks?

The Halloween Hijinks campaign may be the only way to get a copy of the game. Our oldest daughter is going to college and we may not have time to travel to many conventions next year. Also, we do not have any plans to release it in a retail environment.

Also, this campaign is the only way to get the “Licorice the Cat” enamel pin. We will not sell any pins after the campaign ends.

Last updated: June 04, 2026 08:02

What is the custom character trunk or treat card add-on?

This is an extremely limited opportunity for backers to become part of the game. By backing this add-on, the backer will send us a photo of them (or someone they know) in an unlicensed costume. Our wonderful artist will cartoonize them so they can be added to one of the trunk or treat cards. The backer will forever be immortalized in every copy of Halloween Hijinks, granting exclusive and eternal bragging rights.

Is there an AI use in Halloween Hijinks?

There is absolutely no AI anywhere in Halloween Hijinks or this campaign. We firmly believe in supporting artists and graphic designers. Thank you Cat and Ella!!!

In the crowdfunding campaign, the retailer bundle listed 8 copies. In the pledge manager, the retailer bundle comes with 10 copies. How many copies are included in each?

Panda surprised us by including ten copies per carton (box of games). Rather than remove two games per carton, we are sending a full ten to each backer that backed at the retailer level. Additionally, all backers who chose the retailer level add-on will receive ten copies per case that they order.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
